Doctor Who Season 5… in the old U.S. of A

doctor_who_2005_promoThe big question over here in the States is when will Doctor Who, Season 5 even air in this country?!!  With David Tennant leaving the cast mid-season, it has caused a bit of a snag and yes – there is the 11th Doctor in the wings (and probably on set right now) – it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing any new episodes of Doctor Who until sometime next year – and I’m talking 2010. (Not next season.)

But on the bright side – it seems they will be giving us a few Doctor Who specials to keep us on the hook (and not complaining… too much) until the good Doctor returns.

You know what?  Instead of me just give you a recap here is the release from the BBC:

Jane Tranter, Controller, BBC Fiction, says: “Doctor Who is one of the BBC’s best loved and most successful dramas. Its journey over the past three series has been one of the most ambitious and exciting that we have had, and I’m delighted to be able to confirm not only three exciting specials for 2009, but a fifth series in 2010. “

So, for those of you (like me) who just can’t take it – this weekend, Saturday April 11th, on BBC ONE – we can see Planet of the Dead.  Don’t worry – it’s online.  So get your bowl of popcorn and hunker down in front of the old computer monitor and visit with your favorite Doctor.

It’s still a wait… but one with visits here and there to keep our hearts all a pitter patter with love for the Doctor…

Now please, go watch TV!

  1. One must do what one has to do.

When I see there is no air date in the US I can only assume that there will not be one and then you gotta scratch that Doctor Who itch somehow.

I posted Davies’ appearance on BBC Breakfast promoting the show, it’s at this link.
